In the presence of Deans and Vices-Rector and in extraordinary session of Deans Council, Dr. Mohammad Al Kahtani Dean of IT and Distance Learning delivered a presentation about the new trends of IT services that would be provided by the deanship in the next stage.
Dr. Al Kahtani assured at the beginning that the deanship has finished during the last phase a number of projects that led to remarkable IT services and infrastructure. He added, after finishing and organizing the internal order and the provided services of the deanship to the university’s members, the deanship felt it is the time to reconsider mechanism and procedures of providing the technical support services. Whereas, Dr. Al Kahtani has reviewed these procedures, which are created according to the international standards in IT field.
Dr. Al Kahtani pointed to the action that approved by Rector, which is establishing an IT unit in all Vice-Rectorates, Deanships and Administrations, besides establishing Distance Learning unit in the university’s colleges. Then, he explained the role of these units, its administrational affiliation to it whereabouts and its technical affiliation to IT Deanship. He also explained the organization chart for each unit.
Further, Dr. Al Kahtani presented the idea “Jinakum”, which is creating a schedule visitation that include all the university’s sectors to be serviced directly through a technical team.
At the end of the presentation, Dr. Al Kahtani thanked Rector for giving him this chance. Then he thanked Vices-Rector and Deans for their attendance and their inputs during the presentation. Finally, Rector and all attendance praised the continuing achievements of the deanship, which are indicating that it walking in the right way.
